2011 is a collaborative web site for online font creation. Each new user is invited to modify the design of the type created by the previous user, influencing the new ones. The fonts are archived and downloadable in Opentype format to be usable.
Every type is based on a triangular matrix which gives unity to the whole, but avoids an excessive stability and invites modifications.
All fonts are freely distributed, under the creative commons BY-SA, admitting that the owners are all the contributors of the web site. So it is an open source type tool that takes into account the contemporary questions of shared and collaborative creation. It uses TTX, a LettError free software. The project was created at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Rennes during a Catalogtree workshop.
